About Us
Our Story
The very idea for TORN came from God. He brought me out of a life of drugs and alcohol coupled with a few other devious behavioral issues. HE saved me so that I could reach out to others stuck in my old lifestyle, He wants to show the world the Hope and Love they are looking for. God is so much different than we have been taught and we are so much more than we've been told. We dream big and Hope bigger and our Faith in God is yet still bigger. He brought us to Portage because of the mission field here. Great town, great people and yet so many hopeless, seeking and not finding. He wants us to partner with others to bring forth transformed lives in the name of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision
TORN will be a conduit for God’s love to shine truth hope and love to the least, the last, the lost and the lonely.
Our Mission
We will do this through Christ centered and Christ honoring relationships built at the speed of Trust.
Worship Services
Our worship service on Saturdays is a bit louder, using videos for now until God brings us a worship team. If you feel led to worship through voice or instrument, come and let's have a talk about that.
Our Sundays are turned down just a bit but certainly much the same style music. Our goal is to spend time at the feet of Jesus. We desire to spend time at the feet of Jesus preparing our hearts to hear the word of God. You may see people raising their hands or kneeling at the altar, we are comfortable with people loving God the way that He leads them, while keeping an orderly service.
Statement of Belief
We the congregation of TORN church/ministries desire that all would come to live and grow in relationship with one another and with God, advancing His Kingdom with the light of Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. We desire to continue learning how to push back the darkness so that the least, the last, the lost and the lonely are touched by the love of God. Helping the people of Christ to live into their destiny as world changers.
We believe, teach and confess in an unconditional surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord and savior of all who believe and confess in Him.
We believe teach and confess in and depend upon the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, living and working in the hearts of every believer still today.
The Holy Scripture of the Old and New Testament are the inspired and God breathed words of God and the sole authoritative source of our proclamation for faith and life.
We believe in the power of prayer which brings the believer into the presence of God.
The sacrament of Baptism as a voluntary submission to the will of God. All done by the sacrifice of Christ upon the Cross.
The sacrament of Holy Communion, where the real presence of Jesus is present in, with and under the bread and drink.
We believe in the power of God to create and sustain the priesthood of all believers for God’s mission in the world.
