Family

…in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

Genesis 12:3

The concept of family is viewed in a broader sense with regard to the universal fatherhood of God, which encompasses “all the families of the earth” (Gen. 12:3; 28:14; cf. Eph. 3:15). Relationships between God and his people, and similarly between Christ and the Church, are frequently portrayed in terms of human relationships (e.g., Jer. 2:1; 3:14; 2 Cor. 11:2; Rev. 21:2)

We talk about family a little bit less serious while being every bit as serious. Family is our brothers and sisters in Christ. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, we walk with one another through life. These relationships are built at the speed of trust. Not everyone you meet wants the closeness or realness of family, so we walk with you.

In the Garden of Eden God made us to be in relationship and it has been our experiences in life that make us want to be alone. When we get back to the garden mind and heart set, it is there we find out who we are. When we walk with Jesus we find out our righteousness, that we are good enough, that we have something to offer, that we are valuable to ourselves and to others. This is often times when we realize we want family. It doesn’t mean we are perfect at all times outside of God’s vision of us, but it does mean that we are worth truly discovering who we are.

Families lift up and encourage one another, we walk with one another, we share in good times and bad, in victories and failure. We are the family of Christ, adopted in by God’s loving grace. Together we can complete the mission that God has given the body of Christ, together we are stronger.
